The band that plays the song in real life is Swedish rock band Refused.Music Director for Cyberpunk 2077 Marcin Przybyłowicz previously commented on Refused’s involvement with the game:“I’m incredibly excited about having Refused on board for Cyberpunk 2077. and not 2077 popular music (Cyberpunk).Listening to Samurai in 2077 is like listening to protest music from 70 years ago (late 1940's). This means in 2077 the songs are between 69 and 74 years old. I'm sure that's fine for many people, but I just preferred the sound of the track that was teased.Sorry, I normally wouldn't do this, but for some reason this one specifically really bothers me.their style and sound should reflect 2003 - 2008 punk (Green Day, Sum 41, The Replacements, Blink-182, Against Me!, ect. It's not like everything 1977 sounded like Didn’t know this, this is really interesting. and not 2077 popular music (Cyberpunk).I don't see at all why Samurai should sound like music from its period in "our" timeline. feature in the Cyberpunk lore? Edit : See below for the Tabs! Never Fade Away Lyrics: We lost everything / We had to pay the price / Yeah we lost everything / We had to pay the price / I saw in you what life was … So a lot of complaints about this and 'Chippin' In'.Basically the complaints seem to boil down to, this isn't Cyberpunk, this isn't synth, this isn't Cyber wave....I think that most complaints stem from not understanding the lore, and not understanding the context of these songs to 2077 Night City.Samurai broke up in 2008 so 'Chippin' In' and 'Never Fade Away' were recorded between 2003 and 2008. Do Green Day, Sum 41, The Replacements, Blink-182, or Against Me! Greetings Rockerboys and Rockergirls! I was wondering how this music would fit into the game, but this explanation makes a ton of senseOohhhh shit your right. )The Cyberpunk timeline diverged from our own long before 2000, so that doesn't really hold.Considering these songs were protest punk songs their style and sound should reflect 2003 - 2008 punk (Green Day, Sum 41, The Replacements, Blink-182, Against Me!, ect.) Maybe that first version we heard was like a cover by a modern band!My complaint is that I liked the sound of Chippin In from the gameplay demo way more than the official release. It's like listening to Woody Guthrie's 'Great songs by their own right, but not representative of 2019 current music. Samurai broke up in 2008 so 'Chippin' In' and 'Never Fade Away' were recorded between 2003 and 2008. The time distance between when Samurai recorded their songs and when the current time of the game is significant and needs to be factored in when listening to these tracks. Also, even though the Synthwave music and Cyberpunk genre are very 80s based and fit quite nicely together, the origins of Cyberpunk are a lot more related to PUNK and rock music, as it says on the name, with Synthwave being more related to the cyber aspect of the thing and not exactly punk.So a lot of complaints about this and 'Chippin' In'.Basically the complaints seem to boil down to, this isn't Cyberpunk, this isn't synth, this isn't Cyber wave....Your post is good, but really, the fact that there are multiple different aesthetic movements in any well-realized world is all you need to explain away why not everything in 2077 sounds like synthwave. This means in 2077 the songs are between 69 and 74 years old.Considering these songs were protest punk songs their style and sound should reflect 2003 - 2008 punk (Green Day, Sum 41, The Replacements, Blink-182, Against Me!, ect.) I know for a fact there are a lot of fans of the band at the studio, including Piotr Adamczyk, one of the composers working on the game, who came to me with the idea for this collaboration.I’m very happy he did, because the massive riffs, powerful drums, and hard-hitting vocals the guys from Refused deliver as SAMURAI have blown me away. I thought the previous song sounded much more metal than punk (which is actually why I really didn’t like it so much). But both songs are marked as "refused" so, is it the main song?New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be castCyberpunk 2077 is an upcoming role-playing video game developed by CD Projekt RED (CDPR) and published by CD Projekt S.A. Never Fade Away is a song performed by the band Samurai. IMO great music all aroundSee I would contend that this was actually more punky than the previous song. I was really looking forward to a full release of what was teased... instead we got something completely different. The title is based on a mini adventure in Cyberpunk 2013 called "Never fade away" it's about Johnny Silverhand trying to get his girlfriend, Alt, back from Arasaka corp after they kidnapped her. Considering these songs were protest punk songs their style and sound should reflect 2003 - 2008 punk (Green Day, Sum 41, The Replacements, Blink-182, Against Me!, ect.) It was released on the Album A Cool Metal Fire under the Universal Media Label.
